Closing the information gap in Steam Reformers
The article explains how a lack of critical information can affect the operation of a chemical plant. When plant operators and engineers are monitoring and controlling plant operations from the control room on a daily basis, some crucial parameters for the steam refomer operation are not available in the distributed control system (DCS), among these the tube wall temperatures (TWT) and the burner status.
The missing availability and overview of these parameters is a significant information gap. Minimising or closing this information gap is key to operating the reformer in an optimal way.
